THE Philippine National Police (PNP) plans to buy more patrol jeeps to improve its mobility and enhance its anti-crime campaign.
Documents from the PNP revealed that the police force is eyeing purchasing 1,021 patrol jeeps worth P918.9 million before the year ends.
Funds for the procurement will come from the General Appropriations Act of 2013.
Bidding for the project will be held on Tuesday at the PNP headquarters in Camp Crame in Quezon City.
The jeeps must be diesel-fuelled and have a seating capacity of at least 12 people each.
The vehicles will be delivered in three batches.
The bidding is open to companies, partnerships and organizations that are at least 60 percent Filipino-owned.
The pre-bid conference is scheduled on Nov. 4, and the bids will be opened on November 18.
The PNP had acquired 560 jeeps acquired earlier this year. Mahindra, a motor company from India, won the P504-million contract to supply the jeeps.
