THE National Committee on Dance of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) is organizing the 2014 Sayaw Pinoy: The NCCA National Dance Competition as part of its efforts to promote dance in its various forms.

This year the competition—with four categories of dance categories are folk dance, contemporary and hip-hop—will happen from December 6 to 7 at St. Louis University in Baguio City.

According to NCCA, Sayaw Pinoy 2014 aims to raise the artists’ consciousness on the value of artistic excellence, while providing opportunities to maximize their potentials.

It also hopes to teach emotional fitness through teamwork as the group experience will bring about dependability, responsibility, commitment, sportsmanship, discipline, creativity and awareness of the value of the art of dance.

The competition is open to all Filipino citizens residing in the Philippines, at least 13 years old as of November 15. Groups must be composed of a minimum of six dancers and a maximum of 20 dancers.

Download the complete competition guidelines and final entry form at the NCCA Web site (www.ncca.gov.ph/about-ncca/announcements/announcement.php?i=6233). Official entry forms must be submitted to the NCCA Arts Section, 5th Floor, NCCA Building, 633 Gen. Luna Street, Intramuros, Manila, on or before November 15, at 5 p.m.

Entries may also be emailed to ncca.dancecommittee2014@gmail.com; claren.ncca@yahoo.com; mgtellano@yaho.com or sent via fax at 527-2198.
