TEACHING KIDS HOW TO SAVE
The Manila Times College in Subic, together with China Bank SBMA branch and the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, has taken the first step in establishing a firm foundation for financial literacy for pre-school and elementary school students. Under the TMTC’s entrepreneurship, mathematics and values education subjects, the students are required to open a bank account with a minimum balance of P500. At the end of each month, they should deposit any amount raised from their entrepreneurship subject or from their weekly allowance. Through this program, teachers hope that the students will develop respect for money and grow up to be financially independent and responsible.
