The Sandiganbayan’s First Division has allowed former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to have a check-up at St. Luke’s Medical Center Center in Quezon City.

The medical procedure was granted after Arroyo asked the court to let her undergo urodynamic testing (UDT) over complaints of difficulty urinating and traces of blood were found in her urine.

The motion cited her medical certificate dated April 21, 2014, which recommended UDT to diagnose, monitor and manage her “adverse physical and health condition.”

UDT is a test that shows how well the bladder and urethra are working in storing and releasing urine.

The Police Security and Protection Group (PSPG) earlier denied Arroyo’s request to accompany her to the examination, prompting the former president to ask the Sandiganbayan to grant her motion.

Arroyo has been detained at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center in Quezon City for plunder charges in connection with alleged misuse of Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office funds.
