THE Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) postponed the voting on candidates for the top post at the Sandiganbayan.

The council granted the request of Congress to wait for its official representative to the body.

The JBC was scheduled to vote on the candidates for the new Sandiganbayan presiding justice yesterday.

Iloilo Rep. Niel Tupas told The Manila Times that the voting was reset to July 29.

Tupas said Congress was not able to send its representative to the council because the House of Representatives and Senate will resume session on July 22.

Jose Mejia, JBC representative for the academe, stressed the need for the House and Senate to discuss who will represent Congress in the JBC because the Supreme Court has ruled that Congress will have only one vote at the JBC. Before the High Court ruling, the Senate and the House of Representatives each had one representative at the JBC.
