ONE has to see and hear the inspiring, vibrant, and model achiever, Jessica Fox-Chamberlain to understand why she is a successful motivational speaker.
She is armless, happily married since May 2012 and someone who will persuade you to learn to value yourself because “God made you, made you what you are, for a reason. You are a person God loves and He has a plan for you.”
Indeed, how can you rebel against what your creator—and the creator of your parents and siblings, your neighbors and your neighborhood, your whole country, the continents, the cosmos and the whole universe—wills for you?
From that perspective how can anybody go wrong—and not be as consummate an achiever, and the kindest and most caring person around as Jessica? Unfortunately, it seems to be in the nature of man—or most men—to rebel against God. And it takes deep and vast intelligence—and docility—to realize that rebellion against God and His plan for each person is self-destructive and a barrier to greatness. It is also in the fallen nature of most men (and women) to refuse to see and accept the simplest of realities and instead to invent their own. So they end up living in fear.
Jessica has a marvellous definition of FEAR. In the seminars and workshops she gives, she tries to convince participants to be courageous and fearless in struggling to achieve excellence and to be exceptionally good people. She teaches that the reason most people don’t want to try doing the seemingly impossible to achieve greatness, which is what God wants them to do, is FEAR. False Evidence Appearing Real.
Jessica Cox-Chamberlain is a supreme example of the child of God who has achieved what others conquered by FEARs find impossible.
Wikipedia has published this succinct bio-data: “Jessica Cox (born 1983 in Arizona) is the world’s first licensed armless pilot, as well as the first armless black-belt in the American Tae kwon do Association (she now has two black belts in Taekwondo). She was born without arms due to a rare birth defect. She earned her pilot’s license on October 10, 2008, after three years of training, and is qualified to fly a light-sport aircraft to altitudes of 10,000 feet; Jessica Cox flew in a single engine airplane for the first time via Wright Flight. She received her flight training through an Able Flight scholarship and soloed under the instruction of Parrish Traweek. Cox has not used prosthetic arms since she turned 14. Using her feet as most people use their hands, she is able, among other things, to drive a car (she has an unrestricted license and drives a car without modifications), to type on a keyboard (25 words per minute), to pump her own gas, and to put in and remove her contact lenses. She is also a certified SCUBA diver. Cox holds a Bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Arizona and works as a motivational speaker and has shared her message in 18 different countries.”
Her happy and proud husband is Patrick Chamberlain.
They were together at the House of Represenatives when it honored her for excelling despite her disabilities. The House passed a resolution appreciating her love for the Philippines, her exceptional achievements, and her being a model human being and an inspiration to women.
Wearing a barong, she said in her speech to the congressmen and congresswomen: “I am proudly wearing my barong today because I owe much of my success to the Filipino’s indomitable spirit of not giving up, of having the strength to succeed and that with God, all things are possible.”
Jessica Cox-Chamberlain was born in Eastern Samar in 1983 of her Filipino mother Ines Macabere. She always tells those who ask her that it is thanks to her mother, who taught her to be faithful to God and value herself because God loves and values her, for always being there for her and always making her feel loved and wanted despite her physical disability.
She is here until the third week of March. She is raising funds to aid her hometown of Mercedes, Eastern Samar, one of the areas Super Typhoon Yolanda battered last November.
